Annette and I had known each other for years and years … we met back in 2007/2008 when we worked together in Florida. We had both moved away and found new lives, but remained Facebook friends. Then, last year around June, I saw Annette talking online about how she and her partner Nalani couldn’t get anyone to call them back regarding wedding photography – it can be tough being an LGBTQ couple in the south.
Needless to say, I rushed in and offered to come to Houston to photograph them – and I am so excited that I got the opportunity to witness their day. Due to COVID, they kept their celebration small and their ceremony open-air – but so many friends showed up masked and spread out on the Sabine Street Bridge to offer their love and support from afar.
I loved how Annette and Nalani kept one-upping each other with surprises all day – gift exchanges, a sweet video to watch, a guest singer, an astonishing outfit change pre-dinner, and an unexpected first dance in the lobby.
Here are a few of my favorites from their perfect day.
I am very happy to see my friend So happy. Nalani Deserves love and HAPPINESS in her life. She is my very sPecial friend from many years ago. I love you and i wish you and annette many yEars of happIness.
